What a truly 2025 has been! It's the perfect time to look back and celebrate the incredible growth, hard work, and musical achievements of all my wonderful students. It has been a wonderful year filled with passion and dedication.
👋 A Warm Welcome to Our Newcomers! 👋
A big welcome to Doula, Harlon, Lucas, Theodore, and Evie! They have all started their musical journey with enthusiasm, and it's been a joy watching them begin to explore the magic of music.
🌟 A Year of Star Achievements: AMEB Exam Success! 🎹
I am so proud of all my four students who undertook their Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) exams this year. Their commitment to preparation was inspiring, and the results speak volumes about their dedication.
Congratulations to:
Nicholas, Celine, Eliza, and Xander!
Collectively, they achieved astounding results: three students earned the top grade of A+ High Distinction, and one student achieved an A Honours!
🎻 Bravery and Brilliance in Performance 🏅
A special shout-out must go to Jocy, who had another remarkable year. Not only did she successfully participate in her AMEB Viola exam this year, achieving an A+ High Distinction (following her A+ in Piano last year!), but she also showed incredible courage.
Jocy and Amy were both so brave to attend the Boroondara Eisteddfod competition mid-year. Stepping onto a stage to perform takes nerves, and they handled it gracefully. This experience is invaluable for developing confidence!
🚀 Looking Ahead: The Next Note 🎵
The hard work never stops! Lena, Amy, Celine, Nicholas and Brendan have been deeply focused on their AMEB exam training, and I am excited for them to tackle their exams next year. Their sustained effort is commendable!
We also eagerly await the result of Nicholas's recent AMEB Percussion Exams! Nicholas has been balancing his exam prep while also starting the beautiful challenge of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata No.14. Similarly, Brendan has been working on the same piece while also challenging himself with the iconic theme from La La Land.
❤️Music Connects Us All 🏡
It’s been lovely to see music weave its way through family life:
Rosie has been spreading festive cheer by playing and singing along to Christmas songs—a perfect way to end the year!
Charlotte is thoroughly enjoying her very first piece from Schumann. Even more wonderfully, she inspired her grandmother to start learning the same piece! This truly shows how music helps family bond and creates shared joy.
Lizzy, Lincoln, Nicholas and Teresa have made their secret debuts for sharing their playing with their family!
🧠 Expanding the Curriculum: Music for Life 💡
My own learning journey continued this year, as I completed several courses on music for wellness, the art of vocal production, and the neuroscience of music and emotion.
The study has given me new insights into how deeply music benefits our cognitive and emotional well-being, helping me to better tailor my teaching to support my students' overall learning. Music is so much more than exams and grades; it is a powerful tool for life!
It has been a joy to bring these new insights to my students by adding music production and vocal training to our extra learning curriculum this year, to ensure my students appreciate the many diverse ways we can connect with and create music.
Thank you to every single student—from the new starters to the exam veterans—for your trust, your passion, and the wonderful music you bring to my studio.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
💖 Grace
