Mother's Day Recital

I’m excited to share the details of my first student recital, this Mother’s day, 13th May!

Ever since I migrated to Melbourne and started teaching piano here, I’ve had a dream to hold an event to let my students perform.

Having joined competitions back in Hong Kong, I found that an event like this - a recital, is a great opportunity to be challenged, to grow and learn from the experience and of course get to have family and friends to enjoy the moment with you.

So one of my new year’s resolutions for 2018 was to hold our first student recital. So then I started searching for possible venues, looking at everything from concert halls, private schools through to community centres. It definitely wasn’t a straightforward process - often I would find a great venue but discover no grand piano was available. Or the dates didn’t work. Or many other reasons.

Finally I was lucky enough to find a great venue with a concert Yamaha grand piano and the date I wanted - Mother’s Day. Why Mother’s Day?

Well I have a number of younger students as well, it thought it would be sweet to have them perform as something special for their parents and the Mums in particular who have been also so supportive of them and me.

So - the venue is confirmed. Dates are locked in, and now the organization is in full swing. We’re now up to over 20 students performing on the day! And it’s a lot of fun to plan with them what pieces to play, and start thinking about photography and videography and brochure etc.

To my dear students, can’t wait to see you shine on the day!
